This Week in Insanity Ep. 8 – San Diego Bans the Sale of Dogs, Cats, and Rabbits

San Diego recently became the 32nd city in the nation to adopt a ban on the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits. During last week’s city council meeting, an animal rights activist stood up to say,

“In my world, a responsible breeder is the same as a responsible drug dealer.”

Do you find that Insane?!

    • I certainly want all animals treated in a humane fashion, but to “ban the sale of pets” as San Diego has done, is not the way to proceed! Most “Animal rights” groups I’ve seen are “extremist” and instead of regulating the sale of pets, and breeding conditions, they want to “ban” the entire industry. Pet stores should be regulated and inspected to ensure their pets are well cared for, but not banned! Too often city Council members don’t do their homework! Council should have looked at the Pet stores and pass laws to insure proper care of the animals they sell, but instead they listened to a group of extremist. But, that’s San Diego!

    • They show pictures of puppies and kittens in cages to tug at people’s emotions and try to eliminate dog breeding completely through mandatory spay/neuter laws. If we are commanded to sterilize all of the dogs then where will the next generation of our companions come from? They want to eliminate man’s oldest companion. They have started with the idea that we need to humanize our pets. To say your dog is almost human is an insult to the canine race.
