FRIEND OF THE LAND- MAY 2022
Protect The Harvest Congratulates our May Friend of the Land, Jamie Cruz.
Jamie Cruz is a 4th generation farmer and mother. Her husband John and she have two children that they are raising in Littleton, Massachusetts. SpringDell Farm is a diversified fruit and vegetable operation, located just outside of Boston. The farm sells through their roadside farm stand, through various farm share programs, to several local restaurants, and hosts events for the local community to come learn about food and agriculture. The farm was purchased by her great-grandparents during the Great Depression in 1931 when they migrated here from Kalamata, Greece, and has been a direct-to-consumer farm since the very beginning.
Jamie runs a kids farm group which allows local kids to be involved in the farm activities so they can learn where their food comes from. This provides access to local youth that may never get the opportunity to get their hands dirty and learn about animal and crop agriculture.
Along with that, Jamie also serves on the Littleton Agricultural Commission and Middlesex County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. In years past she served as State Director at Large for Massachusetts Farm Bureau, and American Farm Bureau Federation's National Young Farmer and Rancher Committee. When she isn't growing food, raising animals, and teaching kids about farming, Jamie enjoys a favorite pastime of riding her Morgan horses.
