IOWA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CALLS ON CALIFORNIA TO REPEAL UNCONSTITUTIONAL EGG LAW
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today issued the following statement thanking the Iowa House of Representatives for passing House Resolution 123. The resolution called on California to repeal the law that unconstitutionally limits the sale of eggs in the state. Gov. Branstad has also joined a multi-state lawsuit challenging California’s action. Iowa is the nation’s leading egg producer. The full resolution can be found, here.
“I commend the Iowa House for standing with farmers in a strong bipartisan way to oppose California’s unconstitutional law to dictate production methods to farmers in Iowa or any other state. I appreciate the leadership by our Governor, Attorney General and the Iowa House to protect the rights of our farmers to sell their safe eggs in all 50 states.” - Iowa Sec. of Agriculture Bill Northey
We're excited that Sec. Northey, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, and the Iowa House of Representatives, joined together to take a strong stand to defend states' rights, consumer choice, and Iowa farmers and ranchers from HSUS's overreaching egg law.
