National Safety Month

[caption id="attachment_3659" align="aligncenter" width="476"][/caption]   June is National Safety Month, and it is a time for us as a nation to raise awareness of safety principles in all aspects of our lives. The one we'd like to focus on today is gun safety. We can help prevent many accidents and deaths by paying special attention to proper techniques when handling this equipment. Millions participate in hunting throughout the year, and many of you have youngsters who are learning how to hunt and use a gun for the first time. It is imperative that they learn the fundamental rules, especially these three (via National Rifle Association - NRA):

1) ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.

2) ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

3) ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

There is a wealth of resources out there to help teach firearm responsibility. You can find great literature on the subject at both National Shooting Sports Foundation and NRA.

Check out this great video on the subject as well:

  Stay safe out there!
