FRIEND OF THE LAND – OCTOBER 2023

We would like to congratulate Venessa Wood for being named our Protect The Harvest Friend of the Land for October 2023.

Venessa Wood is the CEO and founder of Ag Women Connect, a group that empowers, supports, connects, and promotes the growth of women in agriculture across the United States.

Venessa is a 2010 graduate of Texas Tech, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Leadership. She attributes her interest and success to her farming upbringing, which has led her to assume numerous leadership roles in equine, ranching, farming, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Venessa’s passion for Ag Women Connect extends beyond merely bringing women in the agriculture field together; she is also an advocate for the agricultural industry throughout America. In pursuit of this advocacy, she created a podcast titled ‘Ag Talk, Your Story Matters.’ The podcast features AWC members and guests who discuss real-life stories and current topics affecting the agriculture industry. Notably, the podcast is also aired on Rural Radio XM 147.

In addition to the organization, they have established the Ag Women Connect Foundation, which provides support for those in need due to unforeseen tragedies and offers scholarships for women in agriculture.

We commend Venessa for her dedication to agriculture and for her commitment to uniting women at all levels in the agriculture world. Ag Women Connect is not just a job for her; it is her life’s passion to bring women together in the agriculture industry.
