Radical Group is Using COVID Vaccine Efficacy to Push Their Ideological Agenda

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is at it again promoting abstaining from meat as a healthy lifestyle by using scare tactics. This time they are going after vaccinated citizens by means of a commentary in the October edition of The American Journal of Medicine called Shoring Up Vaccine Efficacy.
The claim of the commentary is that COVID-19 vaccinations will be more effective in those following a vegetarian diet. The write up states that “…a healthier diet would not only reduce the likelihood of severe infection; over time it may also help vaccines to work better.”
Their assumption is that only plant-based diets are “healthy” and that is far from the truth. The vast majority of doctors and nutritionists agree that animal proteins are an integral part of our diet. Animal proteins provide us with vitamins, minerals, and all of the essential amino acids that our bodies require. All of these are required to keep our immune systems at peak performance and that peak performance is required to fight off illnesses and viruses.

Former President of the American Council on Science and Health Says PCRM is Damaging to the Scientific Community

An article put out this month by Science 2.0 also covers the op-ed and explains how damaging the PCRM viewpoint is on the scientific community. The writer of the article, Hank Campbell, is also the founder of the website and former President of the American Council on Science and Health.

Article Authors Are Animal Extremist Vegan Ideologues

The writers of the article are Saray Stancic, M.D., Josh Cullimore, MBChB, MPH, and Neal Barnard, M.C. FACC.
Saray Stancic is the Director of Medical Education at PCRM and her job description on their website states that she “works to develop and support innovative programs and campaigns to bring plant-based nutrition into the forefront of medical treatment and education.” She is also Chief Medical Officer at Healthy America, a group whose motto is “Bringing healthcare, culinary, lifestyle and community together for the first time ever.”

Josh Cullimore is the Director of Preventive Medicine at PRCM and his job description is “to promote preventive medicine, especially better nutrition, and higher standards in research.” He was also an advisory board member of Plant Based Health Professionals UK. On the Love Veg UK website, he is quoted as saying:
“I encourage everyone to give up eating animal products, as results from studies and from my own patients show that vegan diets rich in fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts and seeds are extremely healthy. Just ensure you’re getting enough B12 (either from a supplement or fortified foods) and you’ll be eating a very nutritious diet that also helps animals and the environment. Everyone wins!”
Neal Barnard is the Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the George Washington School of Medicine and the President and Founder of the PRCM. He works with groups like the American Medical Association to call for federal policies on “prevention and nutrition.”

Using Fearmongering to Push Agenda

As usual the PCRM is using fear mongering to try and push a plant-based diet. Using the COVID-19 pandemic as a propaganda tool is right in line with their mission of pushing people towards a vegan plant-based lifestyle.
