These spayed fillies will be sold at the 2019 Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity and are invited back to the 2020 Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity to compete in their own division, with $25,000 to the winner. At the time of the sale all of the fillies were spayed and vaccinated. The Wild Spayed Filly Futurity demonstrates that the standing surgical spay is a viable, humane, and economical approach to the horse over population crisis on our American rangelands. The program introduces the American public to both the crisis on the rangelands, and the horses. Competing in a reined cow horse futurity showcases the abilities of these resilient, tough and beautiful horses. It demonstrates their trainability and will hopefully encourage more people to consider a horse from our American rangelands.
Check out the videos below to meet each filly and watch them move, and click on the fillies’ names in the column to the right to read about their trainers. The fillies are named based on the Herd Management Area where they were gathered. If the filly does not have an HMA as a part of her name, her dam was gathered while pregnant and the filly was born in the corrals at the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Management Facility in Burns, Oregon.
To follow the fillies progress and learn about the trainers that will be working with them, make sure to check the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity Facebook page and on our website.
